Job Description

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a sales capacity in the freight industry, with flatbed sales as a strong plus. Compensation includes Salary and Commission.

The primary responsibility of the Sales Representative is to open new accounts in the Houston market, but will also be expected to periodically call on existing customers. From time to time, this position may require in-person visits to prospective new accounts, but most sales activity will be via the phone and email, with extensive cold calling required. The Business Development Representative is expected to generate their own list of prospective new accounts, so a hunter mentality is required. The Sales Representative can also leverage an extensive database of dormant accounts and pickup/delivery destinations already familiar with Hazel’s, and is expected to service their existing accounts as needed to ensure business continuity and expansion of sales with existing accounts.

Sales Representatives will be responsible for adding an updating all customer contact information in our CRM software.

Hazel’s provides a wide array of services for you to pitch to customers including:

  • Point-to-Point Courier Service
  • Local Pickup and Delivery
  • Hot Shots throughout the U.S.
  • Scheduled same day deliveries
  • Over-the-road long-distance trucking (nationwide)

Vehicles include:

  • Cars
  • Half-Ton, ¾ Ton, and 1 Ton Pickup Trucks

  • 8’-16’ Stake beds
  • 24’ Box Trucks
  • 20’ to 40’ Goose-neck Trailers
  • Tractors with 48’ to 53’ flatbeds and vans

Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time W2 employee position that is remote. The starting salary for this position will depend on the experience level of the candidate. In addition to salary, this position includes a monthly commission payment.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on new potential accounts
  • Periodically call on existing accounts to expand our share of customer’s freight spend, including dormant accounts
  • Assist management with operational requirements of new accounts
  • Prospect/Close new accounts via phone, email, and in person visits
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and results into our CRM Software
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc., and sharing with management
  • Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
  • Work with Dispatch office when necessary to resolve customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management and ensure all customer expectations are exceeded
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Establish and meet new account goals and revenue targets
